Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. cucumbers
    4 big onions
    1/2 c. salt
    3 c. vinegar
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. celery
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers and onions thin.
    Let stand overnight in 2 quarts of water and salt.
    Next day, rinse and drain well.
    Bring to a boil.
    Add vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, celery and turmeric to cucumbers.
    Heat just until tender.
    Place in canning jars.
