Sweet Crispy Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 pounds fresh cucumbers
    2 qts white vinegar
    4 pounds sugar
    1 T celery seed
    1 T mixed pickling spice
    1 T whole cloves
    1 T pickling salt (do not substitute)
Preparation
    Peel cucumbers and slice 3/4 inch thick.
    Seed cucumbers with a doughnut cutter.
    Soak cucumbers overnight in lime water (2 cups builders lime to 2 gallons of water).
    Rinse very well.
    Cover with ice water for 3 hours.
    Drain.
    Cover with vinegar, sugar spice mix and allow to stand overnight.
    Bring to a boil and cook 35 minutes. Jar and seal.
    Makes 6-7 pints.
