Parker House Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 3/4 tsp. salt
    4 Tbsp. melted shortening
    3/4 c. lukewarm water
    3/4 c. scalded milk, cooled
    5 to 5 1/4 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Soften yeast in cool milk.
    Add salt, shortening, sugar and water.
    Add flour a little at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
    Beat until smooth.
    Cover with warm cloth and let rise until double in bulk.
    Roll to about 1/3-inch thick.
    Cut in rounds with small glass and put a little butter on.
    Then fold over. Press edges together.
    Put on well-oiled baking sheets.
    Cover and let rise until triples bulk.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes on high rack.
    Makes quite a lot.
