Date Pudding Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. dates, cut fine
    1 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 egg
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. flour
    2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Combine ingredients and mix well.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
    Cool.
    Top with topping.
