Rice Pilaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. chicken fat, butter or shortening
    1 onion, grated
    2 cloves garlic, ground
    1 bay leaf
    1 c. raw rice
    1 tsp. salt
    1 (1-inch) slice bell pepper
    1 1/2 c. hot chicken broth or consomme
    1 1/2 c. hot water
Preparation
    Melt fat in heavy saucepan.
    Add onion, garlic and bay leaf. Cook gently 5 minutes or until lightly browned.
    Add rice and salt. Stir.
    Add other ingredients.
    Stir and bring to a boil; taste and season.
    Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
    Place in 375\u00b0 preheated oven.
    Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
    When cooking, remove bay leaf and bell pepper.
    Serves 6.
