Fiddleneck Ferns - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    young fern shoots, less than 12-inches long and curled
    2 slices bacon, chopped
    1 clove garlic, chopped
    1 to 2 Tbsp. water
Preparation
    Wash ferns, using brush to remove brown flaky coating; cut into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
    Saute bacon and garlic in skillet until bacon is crisp.
    Add ferns and water.
    Simmer, tightly covered, until ferns are fork-tender, stirring occasionally.
    Serve like asparagus.
