Hostess Peas - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas
    1 medium onion, sliced
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 Tbsp. flour
    1 c. half and half or milk
    1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained
    3/4 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    3/4 tsp. sugar
Preparation
    Cook peas according to package directions; drain.
    Saute onion in butter; blend in flour.
    Gradually add half and half or milk, stirring constantly.
    Cook until thickened.
    Add remaining ingredients; mix lightly.
    Heat thoroughly, stirring occasionally. Serves 6 to 8.
