Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 Tbsp. water
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 (7 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. brown sugar
Preparation

Cream shortening with 1/2 cup each of brown and white sugar. Add egg yolks, water and vanilla.
Mix. Add dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Pat mixture in 9 x 13-inch greased pan.
Sprinkle chocolate chips and pat lightly.
Beat egg whites stiff with pinch of salt.
Beat in cup of brown sugar gradually.
Spread on top and bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
Top begins to turn golden brown and bubbles appear in cookie dough.
