Chicken Cacciatore(Alex'S Favorite) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. flour, seasoned with salt and pepper
    2 1/2 to 3 lb. frying chicken pieces
    1/2 c. vegetable oil (less if using nonstick pan)
    1 c. chopped onion
    1 c. chopped green and red pepper
    1 can tomato sauce
    1 c. chicken broth
    1/2 c. white wine (optional)
    1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, drained (fresh, if desired)
    1 tsp. each: basil and oregano
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1/8 tsp. black pepper
Preparation
    Coat chicken pieces with seasoned flour.
    In a 12-inch skillet, brown chicken in oil.
    Remove; drain on paper towels. Add onion and green and red pepper to skillet; cook until soft. Drain excess fat.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Return chicken to skillet.
    Cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
    Makes 6 servings.
