Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dates (small size)
    1 1/2 c. water
    2 tsp. baking soda
    2 1/4 c. flour (all-purpose)
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    1 c. chopped walnuts
    2 Tbsp. butter, melted
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cut dates into small pieces and let stand in boiling water with baking soda while mixing dry ingredients.
    Add melted butter and well beaten egg.
    Last add the water with dates, nuts and vanilla.
    Mix thoroughly until well blended.
    Bake in well-greased 9 x 5 x 2-inch bread pan for 1 hour and 10 minutes at 350\u00b0.
