Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. sweet milk
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1/4 c. water
    1 1/2 c. or more flour (as needed)
    1 heaping tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 level tsp. soda
Preparation
    Put
    first 3 ingredients
    in saucepan and let come to a rolling boil.
    Cool to lukewarm.
    Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup of water.
    Add to cooled milk mixture.
    Add enough flour to make soft batter.
    Set in warm, draft-free place to rise until double, approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
