Eldon'S Mom'S Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/4 c. flour
1 3/4 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
1 3/4 tsp. soda
1/3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. water
2 to 3 eggs (depending on size)
2/3 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla.
Combine dry ingredients.
Add alternately with the water.
Makes 2 layers or a 9 x 13-inch loaf cake.
Bake at 350\u00b0 until cake tests done, 25 to 35 minutes.
Mom always frosted it with chocolate icing and it seemed there was always chocolate cake in the cake saver.
