Rosanne'S Favorite Cut-Out Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter, softened (1 stick)
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/3 c. milk
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
    2 2/3 c. flour
    3/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    food coloring (if desired)
Preparation
    In large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in milk, egg and extracts.
    Stir in flour, baking powder and salt until well blended.
    (If using one one food coloring, add several drops when beating in liquids.
    Otherwise, divide dough and knead coloring into dough portions if using more than one color.)
    Then wrap dough or portions of dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate approximately 1 hour.
    Next, roll dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch and use cookie cutters for desired shapes.
    Bake in a preheated oven at 350\u00b0 on ungreased cookie sheets for 10 minutes or until very lightly browned.
    Cool on wire racks.
