Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 to 5 large apples, grated
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 or 2 tsp. cinnamon
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. hot water
    2 Tbsp. flour
    dash of nutmeg
Preparation
    Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, shortening and milk for pastry and roll into a large circle.
    Spread with brown sugar. Mix apples and cinnamon and spread over the sugar.
    Roll up jelly-roll style and using a sharp knife, slice into 2-inch pieces. Place in a large cake pan.
    Cook sugar, hot water, flour and nutmeg for topping until thick in a small saucepan and pour over dumplings.
    Bake 1 hour at 375\u00b0.
