Canned Apple Pie Filling - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. cornstarch
2 tsp. cinnamon
5 1/2 to 6 lb. apples (Golden Delicious or Ryan Golden)
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
10 c. water
Preparation

Cook and stir sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and water until thick and bubbly.
Add 3 tablespoons lemon juice. Peel and slice the apples. Pack in clean jars. Do not pack tight.
Fill to 1-inch from top with hot syrup. Put lids and rings on jars. Process in hot water bath: pints, 15 minutes and quarts, 20 minutes.
