Thumbprints - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg yolk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. flour
    1/4 c. shortening (Crisco)
    egg white
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 stick oleo
    1/4 c. brown sugar
Preparation
    Mix well. Roll in small balls.
    Dot on egg white and nuts. Bake 5 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Put in thumbprint.
    Bake 8 minutes more. Take from oven and put dab of frosting and 1/2 colored cherry. (Thumbprints can be made with back of teaspoon or a small stick.)
