Caramel Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. caramels
    5 Tbsp. milk (1/4 c.)
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 1/2 c. oatmeal
    1 1/8 c. packed brown sugar
    3/4 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/8 c. butter, melted
    1 1/2 c. chocolate chips
    3/4 c. nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Mix flour, oatmeal, sugar, soda and salt.
    Add melted butter and mix thoroughly.
    Pat half of crust mixture into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Remove from oven.
    In a medium saucepan, melt caramels with milk; pour over baked crust. Sprinkle with chips and nuts.
    Sprinkle remaining crust mixture over top.
    Bake another 15 to 20 minutes at 350\u00b0.
