Tomato Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter or margarine
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    3 egg yolks
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1/2 c. water
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    3 c. flour
Preparation
    Sift flour; measure it, then sift again with all dry ingredients except the sugar.
    Cream the shortening and sugar; add the egg yolks, then add the sauce (to which the 1/2 cup water has been added) alternately with the dry ingredients.
    Add vanilla. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
