1 large can tomatoes
1 clove garlic (optional)
1 bay leaf
salt and pepper to taste
pinch of sugar (optional)
water (add some if needed)
2 carrots
3 green onions with tops or 1 medium dry onion
2 sticks celery
1 large or 2 medium potatoes
