Ingredients

1 1/2 c. currants, plump in hot water
6 c. flour
2 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. salt
6 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together; cut into shortening (as for pie crust).
Drain currants and mix with batter; set aside.
Beat eggs light; add vanilla and milk.
Add flour to mixture and chill.
