Ingredients

1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, blending well after each addition.
Blend in flavoring. Spoon batter into 4 or 5 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
Cool completely and spread coconut icing between layers.
