Cherry Delight - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter
    1 c. powdered sugar
    1 large pkg. cream cheese
    2 egg yolks
    1 large box vanilla wafers
    2 cans pie filling
    1/2 c. nuts (optional)
    2 c. whipped cream
Preparation
    Beat egg whites with a beater until stiff.
    Spread crushed vanilla cookies on bottom of a 13 x 9 1/2 x 2-inch pan (save enough crumbs for topping).
    Mix all ingredients together.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Spread over crumbs already in pan.
    Spread 2 cans of pie filling on mixture (fruit).
    Sprinkle 1/2 cup nuts over fruit (optional).
    Spread 2 cups whipped cream.
    Top with remaining crumbs.
    Keep refrigerated.
