Lady Baltimore Cake(Old Recipe - Over 50 Years) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sifted cake flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    6 egg whites
Preparation
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
    Cream shortening with sugar until fluffy.
    Combine milk, water and vanilla.
    Add sifted dry ingredients and liquids alternately, in small amounts, beating well after each addition.
    Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry; fold into batter.
