Ingredients

2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. peanut butter
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 small eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream the shortening and sugar together; beat eggs and add to mixture.
Beat thoroughly.
Add peanut butter and vanilla and blend well.
Add dry ingredients a little at a time and beat well after each time.
Form dough into balls the size of walnuts. Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet.
Press with a fork (dip in cold water ever so often) in one direction and then at right angles to form a cross.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
