Mexican Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef or chuck
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 can enchilada sauce
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1/2 soup can water
    2 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
    6 to 8 tortillas
    1 can chopped green chilies (optional)
Preparation
    Fry together ground meat and onion until all pink disappears and onion is clear.
    Add the enchilada sauce.
    Mix together the soup, water and chilies (if used).
    Break tortillas into several pieces.
    In a 2-quart casserole, put a layer of tortillas, meat mixture, soup mixture and cheese.
    Repeat layers, ending with cheese.
    Refrigerate overnight or all day.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
