Queen Elizabeth Ii Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 beaten egg
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    4 Tbsp. butter
    10 Tbsp. light brown sugar
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/3 c. chopped nuts
    10 Tbsp. cream
    coconut sprinkles
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over chopped dates and soda.
    Let stand. Mix sugar, butter, egg, vanilla, flour, baking powder, nuts and salt.
    Add to date mixture and bake in a 9 x 12-inch pan for 35 minutes in a moderate oven.
    Boil the cream, butter and light brown sugar for 3 minutes.
    Spread on cake.
    Sprinkle with coconut and nuts.
