Burnt Sugar Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. white sugar
    1/3 c. boiling water
    1/2 c. butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    2 Tbsp. vanilla flavor
    1/2 c. water
    1/2 c. milk
    2 1/2 c. flour
Preparation
    Burn 2/3 cup white sugar to deep brown in iron skillet.
    Add boiling water. Cook until like a syrup. Cool. Cream butter; add sugar and cream well. Add burnt sugar and beaten egg yolks. Beat well; add dry ingredients. Add milk, water, vanilla and stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake 40 to 45 minutes in 400\u00b0 oven. Makes 3 layers.
