Bow Tie Italian Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 to 8 oz. bow tie pasta
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 (15 oz.) can pizza sauce
    1 small can mushrooms, drained
    1/2 (8 oz.) pkg. sliced pepperoni (optional)
    1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning (can use oregano or basil)
    1 tsp. minced dry onion
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. cottage cheese
    1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
    1 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
    1 c. Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
    1/2 c. shredded cheese (Cheddar cheese, set aside for top layer)
Preparation
    Cook bow tie pasta; drain and set aside.
    Cook ground beef; drain off fat.
    To ground beef, add Italian seasoning, pizza sauce, onion and mushrooms.
    In another bowl, add egg and cottage cheese.
    In a 12 x 9-inch baking pan, layer 1/2 of the pasta, spoon 1/2 of cottage cheese mixture.
    Sprinkle with 1/2 of Parmesan cheese.
    Layer pepperoni slices (optional).
    Place 1/2 of meat mixture.
    Next, add 1/2 of Mozzarella and 1/2 of Monterey Jack cheese.
    Repeat pasta, cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, pepperoni and meat mixture.
    Top with remainder of Mozzarella and Monterey Jack.
    Finish top with 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese. Bake, covered, at 425\u00b0 for 15 minutes; uncover and bake 8 to 10 minutes until cheese is melted and casserole is heated through. Serve with favorite salad and hot bread.
