Boiled Raisin Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. raisins
    2 c. water
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. brown sugar, packed
    2 eggs, beaten
    3 c. flour
    1 heaping tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    dash of salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    chopped nuts (if desired)
Preparation
    Boil water; add raisins and let soak until plump.
    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs.
    Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and spices.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with raisins and water.
    Mix very well.
