Spanish Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. rice
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 c. chopped tomatoes
    1 to 1 1/2 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    1 to 2 tsp. chili powder
Preparation
    Melt shortening in skillet.
    Add rice; lightly brown over low heat.
    Add onion and green pepper; stir.
    Add tomatoes, water, salt and chili powder; bring to a boil.
    Turn heat down to medium or lower; cover and let simmer for about 15 minutes.
    Uncover and remove from heat.
    Serves 4 to 6.
