Country Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. fresh pork (hocks, shoulder or butt)
    1/2 lb. blanched salt pork
    1 onion with 3 cloves
    3 Tbsp. peanut oil
    3 onions, sliced
    2 leeks, cut in 2-inch pieces
    2 turnips, sliced
    8 garlic cloves, sliced
    1 lb. dried beans, soaked
    3 sprigs parsley
    thyme
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. marjoram
    1 tsp. black pepper
    1 savoy cabbage, chopped
    4 potatoes, chopped
    1 lb. Italian sausage, simmered in water 10 minutes
    10 slices French bread
Preparation
    Place pork and salt pork in large soup pot.
    Pour in 3 1/2 quarts water.
    Bring to boil, then lower heat and simmer 1 hour. Add beans and whole onion.
    Simmer 1 hour more.
