Curiosity Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 German chocolate cake mix
    2/3 c. evaporated milk
    6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    3/4 c. oleo, melted
    1 c. pecans
    1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
Preparation
    Combine cake mix, oleo and 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
    Press 1/2 mixture in a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
    Remove from oven.
    Sprinkle nuts and chocolate chips over baked crust.
    Melt caramels with remaining 1/3 cup of evaporated milk in a double boiler.
    Spread caramel mixture over chocolate chips and nuts.
    Press remainder of cake over this and bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes more.
    Cool slightly and refrigerate.
