Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 head lettuce
    1 small can green peas
    6 boiled eggs
    1 can water chestnuts
    1 jar real bacon bits
    chopped shallots
    1 c. mayonnaise
    1 pkg. Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
    8 oz. sour cream
    1 c. Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    In a large bowl, layer ingredients in this order:
    1) shredded lettuce, 2) drained peas, 3) shallots, 4) sliced eggs, 5) drained water chestnuts and 6) bacon bits.
    Mix and seal salad with sour cream, mayonnaise and salad dressing mix.
    Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
    Refrigerate.
