White Fruitcake - cooking recipe

1 c. butter or 1 1/2 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
4 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
12 egg whites, beaten
1/3 c. milk
1/2 tsp. soda
2 lb. seedless white raisins
1 c. shredded coconut
1 lb. citron, finely cut
1 lb. candied pineapple
1 lb. candied cherries
2 1/2 c. pecans
Preparation

Preheat oven to 250\u00b0.
Cream butter and sugar.
Sift flour and cream of tartar together.
Add flour to butter and sugar, alternating with beaten egg whites.
Mix milk and soda, then add to butter, sugar and flour.
Flour fruit and mix into batter. Bake at 250\u00b0 for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
