Country Buttermilk Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. soda
    3 tsp. baking powder
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/4 c. melted butter
Preparation
    Combine first 4 ingredients in bowl.
    Cut in shortening until crumbly.
    Add buttermilk; blend well.
    Turn onto floured surface. Knead gently several times.
    Pat out to 1/4-inch thickness. Spread with half the butter.
    Fold over to form 2 layers.
    Brush top with remaining butter; cut with biscuit cutter.
    Place 1/2-inch apart in greased 9-inch baking pan.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
