Ingredients

1 c. butter (2 sticks)
1/2 c. sliced almonds
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract
2 c. flour
pinch of salt
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Spread almonds on cookie sheet and bake until brown (10 minutes).
Cool completely.
Finely chop almonds into fine powder.
Set aside.
In mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar.
Add egg and extracts.
Beat until blended with electric mixer on low speed.
Gradually add flour, salt and nuts until blended.
Transfer mixture to pastry bag or cookie press and form rosettes or stars.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on rack.
