Ingredients

2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda (baking)
1 tsp. salt
3 c. quick cooking oats
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar well; beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine remaining ingredients and stir into creamed mixture; beat well.
Shape into walnut-size balls; place on a greased cookie sheet.
Flatten slightly.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes. Yield: 5 to 6 dozen.
