Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1 c. light Karo syrup
    2 c. raw peanuts
    dash of salt
    1 heaping tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine sugar,\twater
    and Karo syrup in a heavy, large saucepan and boil to the hard-ball stage.
    Check either by the cold water\tmethod\tor
    use
    a candy thermometer.
    Remove from heat.
    Add raw peanuts and salt.
    Mixture will be quite thick. Return to fire
    and
    boil
    to
    golden brown and the nuts smell done.
    Take from the fire.\tAdd baking soda and vanilla.
    Pour out on\ta
    buttered
    pan.
    When
    thoroughly cooled, crack into pieces and serve.
