Ingredients

4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2 c. white sugar
2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 c. shortening
4 eggs
3 c. rolled oats
2 tsp. vanilla
1 large pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nutmeats (optional)
Preparation

Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder. Set aside.
Cream together the sugars and shortening and then add the eggs.
Beat well.
Fold in the flour mixture, oats and vanilla and then the chips and nutmeats.
Blend all together very well. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheets.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven until light brown, about 10 minutes.
