Virginia Spoon Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. light cream or coffee cream
    1/4 c. unsalted butter
    5 tsp. sugar
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. stone-ground white cornmeal
    4 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. white pepper
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Combine cream, butter, sugar and salt in a saucepan.
    Heat until scalding, but do not boil.
    Remove from heat.
    Using a wooden spoon, beat in the cornmeal, stirring until the mixture is thick.
    Beat the egg yolks lightly with the baking powder and pepper.
    Stir a small dollop of the hot cornmeal mixture into the yolks to warm them, then stir the yolks into the hot cornmeal.
