Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 lb. dates, cut in thirds
1/2 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. boiling water
2 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. flour
Preparation

Mix first 6 ingredients together and put boiling water over mix and let stand for 15 minutes to soften fruit.
Add baking powder, vanilla, eggs and flour.
Bakes well in 3 greased tennis ball cans, in 350\u00b0 oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
Run knife around edges and remove while still quite hot.
Can also bake in greased bread pans or muffin tins.
