Spice Meringue Bars - cooking recipe

1 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. finely shredded or chopped coconut
Preparation

Beat eggs well.
Combine brown sugar and spices and add to eggs gradually, beating well to blend.
Add vanilla.
Fold in nuts and coconut.
Spread over first mixture.
