Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. cake flour
1 oz. red food coloring
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and mix well.
Add red food coloring and vanilla.
Sift flour, salt, cocoa and baking soda.
Add the flour mixture to the sugar and egg mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Fold in the vinegar.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes.
Makes three 8-inch layers.
