Gingerbread Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    1 c. molasses
    2 Tbsp. vinegar
    5 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    red hots
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and salt.
    Stir in egg, molasses and vinegar; beat well.
    Sift dry ingredients; stir into molasses mixture.
    Chill for about 3 hours; then roll on lightly floured surface.
    Roll to 1/8 inch thickness.
    Cut with gingerbread cutter.
    Place 1 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet.
    Use red hots for faces and buttons.
    Bake for about 6 minutes at 375\u00b0. Cool slightly and decorate with confectioners icing.
    Makes about 5 dozen.
