Apricot Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. Flour, sifted
    1 c. Butter
    2 c. Sugar
    4 Eggs
    2 tsp. Baking powder
    1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
    2 qt. Apricot halves or 3 large cans
Preparation
    Grease and flour an 11 x 17-inch pan.
    Cream the butter and sugar well, add one egg at a time, beating well between additions. Stir in the flour, baking powder and vanilla.
    It will be stiff. Spread evenly in the pan.
    Arrange the apricots over the batter, cut side up.
    Bake at 325\u00b0f. 160\u00b0c. gas mark 3 for 25 minutes, then turn up to 350\u00b0f. 180\u00b0c. gas mark 4 and bake for further 25 minutes or until a nice golden brown.
