Chili Con Carne - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 Tbsp. Crisco shortening or Crisco oil
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. chopped green bell pepper
1 lb. ground beef round
1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
dash of hot pepper sauce (optional)
1 (30 oz.) can kidney beans
Preparation

Heat Crisco shortening or oil in large saucepan or Dutch oven on medium heat.
Add onion and green pepper.
Saute until softened.
Add meat.
Brown lightly.
Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce, if desired.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat.
Simmer 45 minutes. Add undrained kidney beans.
Bring to a boil to heat beans.
Makes 8 one-cup servings.
