Julia'S Open Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 c. sugar
    pinch of salt
    3/4 bar butter or oleo (3 oz.)
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. water or milk
    fresh fruit: peaches, plums, blueberries, etc.
    brown sugar
    butter (dots)
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Sift dry ingredients together.
    With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut butter into dry ingredients.
    Add beaten egg; mix.
    (If dough is too dry for spreading, add a little cold milk or orange juice.)
    Spread dough on bottom and sides of 9-inch buttered pie plate.
    Peel peaches; cut in slices and place over the dough (if plums are used, do not peel).
    Sprinkle top of cake with brown sugar; dot with butter.
    Bake until cake is golden brown on bottom and fruit is soft, about 20 to 30 minutes.
