Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. cornmeal
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Cream shortening; add sugar and cream well.
Beat in egg until fluffy; add vanilla.
Stir together remaining dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly.
Roll out dough on lightly floured board and cut.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 6 to 8 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned.
