Maraschino Party Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/3 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. maraschino cherries (5 oz. bottle) juice
16 maraschino cherries, cut in eighths
1/2 c. milk
1/2 to 2/3 c. egg whites (4 large)
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Preparation

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Add shortening, juice and cherries and milk.
Mix well.
Add unbeaten egg whites.
Beat 2 minutes, scraping sides and bottom of bowl; fold in nuts.
Set oven at 350\u00b0.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
