Cheesy Apple Crisp - cooking recipe

13 qt. apples, (about 42 large), peeled and sliced
2 c. water
1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
8 c. all-purpose flour
8 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp. salt
4 c. butter or margarine
8 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
whipped cream or ice cream (optional)
Preparation

Arrange apples in four greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pans. Combine water and lemon juice, sprinkle over apples.
Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in cheese lightly.
Spread over apples.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes, or until apples are tender and topping is crisp. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
